Gearing Chartered Accountants up for the Independent Review
The Companies Act 71 of 2008 recognises SAICA members as Independent Reviewers. This is a totally new line of reporting for Chartered Accountants, CA(SA)s, and SAICA is constitutionally bound to ensure that its members do not take up appointment for duties that they are not competent to conduct. With this in mind, SAICA has launched an electronic certification course to assist members in getting up to speed with the Independent Review Standard - ISRE2400.
What is included in the electronic certification course?

• PDF Text book: This is a comprehensive guide detailing the requirements in the standard on Independent Reviews covering all the content required to pass the online examination. The electronic guide includes a comprehensive case study illustrating how a review should be performed with model Independent Review working papers.
• Online Study material: 11 E-Learning Modules covering every aspect of the review process. These include introductory videos and detailed videos with Professor Steven Firer discussing the application of the theory in the case study and model working papers. The e-learning also includes a 10 question quiz at the end of each chapter to help consolidate your knowledge of the material covered, and help you get CPD hours. Note that the e-learning is loaded onto your computer so that you can access it anywhere, anytime.
• Access to the final online exam: This is a 2 hour on-line examination. You have multiple attempts to pass it - and it can be done in your own time.

CPD
16.5 hours available from completing the CPD quiz at the end of each e-learning module and 3.5 hours for completing the on-line examination successfully.
